Claim rejections were the biggest headaches for myself and everyone else who worked in my clinic before we got ourselves some revenue cycle management software. Our management was stuck in the old ways, so we did most everything we could on paper, which meant I had to deal with the grouchy copy machine, the always-on-the-fritz fax machine, and the surly guy who delivered the reams and reams of paper that we went through each month.
There came a day when I gathered my courage and walked into my boss's office to inform him that I was fed up with the way we were doing things. The folks that I worked with would never have labeled me a go-getter, but I figured that if I did not speak up, no one else would. Before I went in, I did a little internet search to see if there were any easy solutions to this problem that I could suggest and I joyfully learned that there is software designed for our specific problem.
To my surprise, my boss actually listened to what I had to say and suggested that I create a presentation to explain how the software worked in greater detail. I saw the possibilities in this assignment and set to this job with firm dedication, not looking up from my desk for many hours. All day long, question after question rained down upon me, coming from my curious fellow clinic employees. I let them know about the software I was researching and each person's face lit up with excitement.
I was told that should my efforts prove successful, they would take up a collection aimed at getting a monument constructed in my honor in the parking lot. It was gratifying to see that everyone else wished to make the office function more efficiently. Soon enough, I found myself in a meeting with the people in charge and presented my findings in a careful, considered way, making it clear which options I recommended. I could tell that my techniques were working and that my boss was going to be on board with my suggestion, so I made a further suggestion, telling him that web based Electronic Medical Records Software would be extremely useful as well.
It is a few months later and I am pleased to say that we bought all of the revenue cycle management software that I suggested. We're making a lot more money and spend less time with the time-consuming things that besieged us previously. The doctors love the new software and the whole office is just a better place to be these days. This is just on top of my own happiness, which is due to my nice raise and very much increased job satisfaction.
