The Downside Of Freeview Aerial Installers

By James Sollis

There are many issues arising out of the installment of a new television service called Freeview, which is getting popular in the United Kingdom. Freeview is a new television service which is free of charge after you buy a decoder from the service provider, which is basically a box which you plug in between your television and the aerial. Sometimes more often than not the cost of installing the service may require the services of aerial installers.

Upon payment of the decoder box that is a requirement for the service, you should be able to enjoy a myriad channels on your television using your old aerial, and does not necessitate the purchase of a new aerial. However, some subscribers have opted to get new aerials perhaps to improve quality or boost performance and thus require the services of Aerial Installers.

The purchase of a new aerial may in fact entail other costs that are part and parcel of buying it, since you want to improve performance and reception of your new TV service. Some of these costs will be discussed so as to better prepare you for the decision of whether to get a new aerial or not.

And apart from just purchasing an alleged Freeview compatible aerial some costs compound this endeavor. There are several considerations that may add or decrease the cost of installing a new aerial if it is warranted for the use of your new aerial service. Some of these considerations will now be discussed.

The first cost that will be entailed apart from purchase of the aerial is where your preferred or suggested location will be. Whether or not it will be placed in an inaccessible or hard to get to area such as the roof will entail extra costs due to perils to safety on part of the person installing it. Another cost will of course be directly related to the aerial itself depending on what type or brand model you are buying, the costs will be reflected on this likewise.

A third consideration will be the demand for installation. The more people that demand to have aerials installed to get the Freeview will cause delays and therefore the cost here is in the form of time. Likewise if the demand is high you become a price taker and cannot do much on haggling for a lower price from installers.

A fourth and most important factor is your own ignorance. How aware are you that you may not need to buy or install a new aerial after all? Are there other ways to get a clearer reception like adjusting the aerial? Have you really talked to the service provider and asked the right questions so that when you subscribe you will not be spending so much? Did you weigh the options and a do you really need it?

Thus these factors should assist us in making a checklist of things we need to do before making an order for a Freeview installation or even purchasing a new aerial for that matter.
