Hosting Windows Style

By Matt Ewing

In choosing between the Linux or Windows platforms, it is best to consider several factors and ask several important questions. Aside from Linux or Windows, there are still other operating systems to choose from, like Unix and Macintosh. However, the more popular and subject of heated debates among others are Linux and Windows.

Linux and Windows are the two most popular and ubiquitous OS. Both have their strengths which is why there are many advantages in using the Linux or the Windows platform. In choosing between the two, the final arbiter would be the user who would usually ask the question --- Which is best for my site?

Providing customized email addresses are also included in most web hosting packages. Obviously, an email address that is personalized or tailor made for your company is better than an email address that was made with a Yahoo account. Furthermore, an email address which is domain specific looks more professional, appealing, and attractive, not to mention giving your business the impression of credibility, good will, and stability.

Ideally, regardless of the selected provider, web hosting service is supposed to give one's website a host of advantages. As above stated, the most fundamental gain in engaging a hosting service is ubiquity in the information superhighway. Hosting allows one to acquire storage space for website data such as pictures, music and videos. The amount of storage space given is from 1G to hundreds of that, depending on the package taken.

On the other hand, low bandwidth slows your website down which will earn your website dissatisfied viewers. A website that has a sufficient amount of bandwidth is important in establishing your presence in the information superhighway.

All of the above must be considered in making the decision between Linux or Windows for your hosting needs. Linux is said to be one of the more famous OS on the WWW, primarily due to the fact that is cheap and easy to install. However, if you plan to develop or utilize many Windows-based apps for your site, it Linux obviously will not work for you.

On the other hand, low bandwidth can pose problems in loading, and the slower the pages load, the more frustrated are those who are viewing your website. Providing one's website with a sufficient amount of bandwidth is pivotal and it is also one of the main considerations in choosing, or changing your web host.

Having gone to the preliminaries, we go back to the question of windows web hosting. First of all, it is not web hosting that is Linux, Macintosh, or Unix based. Based on general observations, Linux-based hosting is more popular of the three above mentioned in view of the fact that it is relatively affordable and it is easy to install.

Still, the matter is left to the sound discretion of the individual, business or organization according to their web hosting needs. Experts would agree that the differences between the operating systems is more apparent than real, and have recommended selecting a hosting server that offers the package that you want.
