Mail Servers: Specialist Needs

By Tony Savvides

Until a specialist need was actually pointed out to you it would never have been an issue and therefore you would not have needed a server for it. Gmail was a free email service that many companies were using for their email requirements but there is now a limit on the number of accounts you can access; you can only have ten free accounts. So what if you need more than ten accounts for your business?

For most companies out there an email marketing campaign may be something they had never thought about doing and they may just want a reliable email system that doesn't cost the earth to maintain. Web based companies could also be faced with more issues here that need to be addressed.

For instance if the company has a web presence and their hosting provides areas for their clients or they are selling hosting services themselves then their clients would need their own email address as part of the package. When it comes to emails and websites it is not a good idea for both to be running on the same server as it can cause issues. This can cause some serious problems if not handled properly not just with security issues but fail safe problems.

Nothing could be worse than having your website go down if you are an internet based business apart from having your website go down and your email too.

This is always a possibility when all your eggs are in one basket with one hosting package for your website and email. At least if your website goes down and you still have email capability you can communicate much more easily with your customers and keep them informed of any progress.

This would reduce the amount of calls you would have to handle and other customer service issues would also be curbed. The bottom line when it comes to website server and email server hosting packages is to make sure you are online in at least one all of the time.
