Selling Your EBook Online - Tricks Of The Trade That Can Make You A Living

By Bob Steele

As you probably know, eBooks are becoming a standard in today's society. More and more people are choosing eBooks over regular books, especially since eBook readers like Kindle have been emerging in the marketplace. It is very easy now for people to publish what they write in digital format. It is not enough, however, to simply publish a book and expect it to sell.

The first thing you should do, if you have an e-mail list, is to send out a message to your subscribers. Build up anticipation with the people who have opted in to your list. These people want to hear from you. They are on your list, right?

Amazon has the Kindle store - a great place to market your eBook. Kindle is doing very well with Amazon doing well to expand its presence. People trust the books that are sold through it - even when those books are self published and entirely digital. Prior to selling, you must agree to only sell under the regulations and rules that are in place. You will notice that there are many regulations in regard to pricing and content. When you sell something on Kindle, there are a few things you must agree to prior to uploading your eBook and placing it on the Amazon marketplace. Each book needs to be properly formatted (in Kindle format) before it can be sold to the general public. Your reader will not be able to make these adjustments. Any adjustments have to be done by you.

Some people have an existing newsletter or autoresponder that they can do mail outs to their subscribers. Prior to launching your product, you should e-mail your existing list telling them what is going to occur. Many people will use their subscriber list, sending them e-mails to get them excited about a new product they are launching. Many sales can be made in this way. This is also a great way to get new people to try out your products by incentivizing them using your list. The eBook that you are selling to do very well at the time of launch. Loyal subscribers could buy more than one and perhaps tell others about your launch thus escalating your sales even higher.

If you have a subscriber list, ask them what they would like to purchase from you. You might want to write a niche centric nonfiction eBook for starters. Ask the list what type of information they would like to know about. Get their input on the covers - you might even run a contest for the cover's design. Do a contest on the best subtitle and allow them to vote. The more feedback that you allow your subscribers to give you, the more involved they will feel in the creation of your product. Subscribers will probably tell their friends and family about the product, an eBook that they helped to create.

People that make an eBook should understand that selling it is not that hard. Most of it can be accomplished before you sell it. You can do a lot of things to sell your book right after launch to make even more sales. You are only limited by your own predispositions and the creativity that you put into this project. This means that the more you work at it and the more creative you are in that work, the more copies of your book you are going to sell.
