The Secrets to Reaching the Top of the Google SERPs

By Theresia Mangini

Google is the king of online search - an undisputed leader that has a strong monopoly in the search market. The only way to succeed in this game is to get your site at the top of the Google SERPs which will ensure you get a large portion of targeted traffic.

If you want to hit the front page of Google, then you will have to focus on delivering unique content to your visitors. The fact that their main focus is relevant and quality content is the reason Google is the top search engine today. You will have a better chance of hitting the front page of Google if your site offers original content that is of excellent quality. When referring to original content, that doesn't mean that the wording is simply original, it also has to be useful to the reader. You certainly can't put up a pile of sentences that make no sense and expect Google to take notice of you. Your target audience needs to find the content relevant to the topic you are tackling. The search engine giant takes not one, but many factors into consideration when determining how good your content is.

Google will naturally rank a site better that is linked to by an academic site since the site must have some form of value. Therefore, if you want to make a good impression on Google, try to get a few .edu backlinks.

One thing many people don't know is that Google pays a lot of attention to grammar and good English in the content of a site. If your site features well-written, grammatically correct content, you will actually get a boost from Google. Google considers relevancy and quality to be essential and that is why the way in which your content is written is important. There are many websites, unfortunately, that are quite good but their content is written poorly and as a result they never get to the top. So before you put any content on your site make sure you spell check it, go through the grammar, etc.

It's a good idea to use hyphens to space out the keywords in your URL. This way Google will know what keywords you are trying to rank that particular page for and you will find it easier to get to the top. Getting your site to the front of the Google SERPs isn't too hard, neither is increasing your rank as long as you know what to do. Just get started and implement the advice in this article and the results will speak for themselves.
